Robert Edward “Bob” Crane (July 13, 1928 – June 29, 1978) was an American actor, best known for his performance as Colonel Robert E. Hogan in the television sitcom Hogan’s Heroes from 1965 to 1971, and for his unsolved death.

Crane was an inveterate womanizer who kept extensive records of his exploits. Years before camcorders were common, Crane videotaped his encounters with hundreds of women. He was assisted by his friend John Carpenter who supplied Crane with taping apparatus. Crane, in turn, was a source of women for Carpenter, and the pair would often double date. Their friendship extended to the bedroom, where they at least once engaged in a threesome which was, of course, videotaped.

It seems like a rational person would think twice about doing saving ordinances for a sexual addict who was murdered by his friend and partner. But I guess he was just so cute in Hogan’s Heroes that he can be forgiven for exploiting women on tape. I guess that’s good news for today’s Hollywood crowd, who is so fond of making these sorts of videos.

Sir Reginald “Rex” Carey Harrison (5 March 1908 – 2 June 1990) was an English actor of stage and screen. Harrison won both an Academy Award and a Tony Award. He was best known for his portrayal of Professor Henry Higgins in the musical My Fair Lady, and for 1967’s Doctor Dolittle.

We honor Rex today, on his 102nd birthday, with 5 posthumous baptisms and sealings to all 6 of his wives, but note that Bo Diddley, who shares his birthday has not been honored with any ordinances. Apparently mormons are not blues fans, as much as they are fans of the theatre.

Leonard “Chico” Marx (March 22, 1887 – October 11, 1961) was an American comedian and film star and was the eldest of the Marx Brothers. He made 13 feature films with his siblings the Marx Brothers. Chico used an Italian accent for his on-stage characters; all the Marx brothers at some point in their careers performed “dialect characters,” but Chico was the only one to continue this into his films. He had a reputation as a gambler and womanizer. His brother Gummo said of him, , “Chico’s favorite people were actors who gambled, producers who gambled, and women who screwed.”

Sounds like a ringing endorsement of someone who would naturally want to be baptized into the mormon church. 5 times. But since his brother Harpo is now a mormon, it makes sense that they should both be, to insure their eternal family unit.

Joey Ramone (May 19, 1951 – April 15, 2001), born as Jeffry Ross Hyman, was a vocalist and songwriter best known for his work in the punk rock group the Ramones. Joey Ramone’s image, voice and tenure as frontman of the Ramones made him a countercultural icon.

Joey Ramone seems like a natural fit for a mormon congregation. He’d be perfect for a choir director, or perhaps Elder’s Quorum President.

Mary Kay Ash (May 12, 1918 – November 22, 2001) was an American businesswoman and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc.

She was born Mary Kathlyn Wagner in Hot Wells, Harris County, Texas, the daughter of Edward Alexander and Lula Vember Hastings Wagner. She attended Reagan High School in Houston, graduating in 1934.

You would think that a woman who had tempted so many good sisters to avoid their Relief Society duties by engaging in commerce, would not be welcome as a mormon. Ah, but look at her. How could you resist a radiant face like that.
