
James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was an American singer, songwriter, poet, writer and filmmaker. He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of The Doors and is widely considered to be one of the most charismatic frontmen in rock music history. Morrison died on July 3, 1971. He was found in a Paris apartment bathtub by his common law wife. Various theories circulate about the cause of his death, but the most common is a heroin overdose.
