Groucho Marx

Julius Henry “Groucho” Marx (October 2, 1890 – August 19, 1977) was an American comedian and film star famed as a master of wit. His rapid-fire delivery of innuendo-laden patter earned him many admirers. He made 13 feature films with his siblings the Marx Brothers. He was also notable as the host of the radio and television game show You Bet Your Life. His distinctive appearance, carried over from his days in vaudeville, included quirks such as an exaggerated stooped posture, glasses, cigars, and a thick greasepaint mustache and eyebrows.

Seems to be a snafu in mormon baptism office. Both Harpo and Chico were posthumously baptized 5 times each, but poor neglected Groucho has only been dunked twice. Come on mormons, get with the program. Famous jews all need to be baptized at least 5 times.

  1. That’s just classic. You’re using “famous people” who have passed on and (without their permission, or the permission of their families I’m sure) have decided to post them as mormons because of a ritual that YOU believe in. YOU, as in, not them, and not anyone else. Just have to say, that is bull-shit. Advertise your religion with people who were NEVER mormon, in DEATH or in LIFE.

    DISRESPECTFUL.

  2. I must say that I agree partially with Tara about the claim of Groucho being labeled as a Mormon. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I understand our view on babtisms for the dead somewhat. I do know that when a person who has passed on can have their baptisms, sealings, endowments, etc. done by the “Mormon” church typically with the consent of the surviving family.
Just like in life, our faith teaches those who have passed on can accept these actions, or reject them. I don’t believe that we can call them “Mormons” just because we (this includes you Tara) with an Earthly understanding do not know if these ordinances are accepted.
To the creator of this page: Thank you for providing this information online. I was wondering if Groucho had his ordinances performed or not. Might I suggest adding a section for those who were not a member during life but has had ordinances performed upon them?

  3. Lies and Deceit are NOT Christian values. Your silly rituals are meaningless to God and to the rest of us. Leave me and everyone I know out of your cartoon church.
