Leonard “Chico” Marx (March 22, 1887 – October 11, 1961) was an American comedian and film star and was the eldest of the Marx Brothers. He made 13 feature films with his siblings the Marx Brothers. Chico used an Italian accent for his on-stage characters; all the Marx brothers at some point in their careers performed “dialect characters,” but Chico was the only one to continue this into his films. He had a reputation as a gambler and womanizer. His brother Gummo said of him, , “Chico’s favorite people were actors who gambled, producers who gambled, and women who screwed.”
Sounds like a ringing endorsement of someone who would naturally want to be baptized into the mormon church. 5 times. But since his brother Harpo is now a mormon, it makes sense that they should both be, to insure their eternal family unit.
