James Neville Mason (15 May 1909–27 July 1984) was a British actor who attained stardom in both British and American films. Throughout his career, Mason remained a powerful figure in the industry and he is now regarded as one of the finest film actors of the 20th century. He was nominated for three Academy Awards and three Golden Globes – winning only once.

You can’t help but wonder which role the well meaning submitter of Brother Mason was thinking of when they nominated him for his posthumous baptism. We ususally think of the fiendishly clever Phillip Vandamm from North by Northwest. But you would think that perhaps the mormons would have first considered the role of Humbert Humbert, from Lolita. Or maybe they forgot all his Oscar nominated roles and submitted him in recognition of his role in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. That makes as much sense as anything.
