David Koresh (August 17, 1959 – April 19, 1993), born Vernon Wayne Howell, was the leader of a Branch Davidian religious sect, believing himself to be its final prophet. A 1993 raid by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the subsequent siege by the FBI ended with the burning of the Branch Davidian ranch outside of Waco, Texas in McLennan County. Koresh, 54 adults and 21 children were found dead after the fire.
Another probably-hidden-rather-than-forgotten.
Your original picture of “Richard Burton” the actor is a hilarious mistake…! He was born in Btitain ((1925-1984) and not interested in Mormons per se and probably knew none of the Mormons involved in California film-making. The man who was fascinated by and visited the early Mormons came to Salt Lake Valley: Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890). He was a very valuable Brtitish academic in oriental studies, a world explorer, and visited across America to Salt Lake Valley. He said very favorable things about the peaceful Mormons who had made the deserts blossom with beautiful farms and temples in their citiesl They laid out New England style cities up and down the Western front of the Wasatch Mountains, from Canada to Mexico. They had sent 500 of their best fathers and sons as troops to fight the War with Mexico when asked by U.S. Marshalls,as they pioneered west from Illinois. The brave wagon trains, often led by staunch older people and women and children continued west to the mountains. Brigham Young, the second Prophet after Joseph Smith, and the other converts felt a great love for America and encouraged them to sign up to serve the United states after they had been bitterly murdered and persecuted in the States. The 500 men made a 1400 mile trek at great peril to all of them in the Nevada deserts ,and were released in San Bernardino, originally a Mormon city in California. Since there was no war anymore with Mexico, some lingered to work in California in the new towns and mines, and Mormons were at Sutters Fort when gold was discovered. The men worked hard to take money from their work back to their families in the Ewtah Territory where many thousands of converts were shipping over from Europe and Scandinavia. Utah was the first state in the Union who gave their women the vote in 1870. You must read more true history to know what you are talking about in your silly writings.
